A new mathematical model for predicting variations in solar irradiance has been developed at the Division of Civil Engineering and Built Environment. Det har talats mycket om bristen på smittskyddsmateriel under coronapandemin men mindre om bristen på läkemedel. Runt om i världen bunkrar länder mediciner som de tror är effektiva mot covid-19. Experter varnar för att dragkampen om mediciner och vaccin kan leda till att de som behöver den mest inte får den först.
Det är säljarens marknad - säger Magnus Thyberg avdelningschef på Region Stockholm. Enrico Baraldi är professor i industriell teknik vid Uppsala universitet. Han är också projektledare på plattformen Platinea som arbetar för att förbättra tillgängligheten och användningen av antibiotika. Han menar att Sverige måste vara kreativ för att förbättra sin position som köpare. Prashant Shah är en av grundarna till det indisk-brittiska företaget O2H som investerar i biomedicinska bolag som forskar på stamceller, antibiotika och behandling av cancersjukdomar. Today, even a banana peel can be transformed into fuel in the form of biogas, but the most valuable waste is IT products and electronics. Effektiv byggnadsteknik visas på explanatorium

Säkrare energi med samordnad el- och värmeproduktion

Genom att lägga om och samordna produktionen av el och värme skulle Sveriges energisäkerhet kunna höjas och elnätets stabilitet stärkas. Med omläggningen skulle man också kunna minska användandet av biomassa, vilket skulle vara bra för biodiversiteten. Det är slutsatserna i en ny sammanläggningsavhandling av Svante Monie, doktor i teknisk fysik med inriktning mot byggd miljö.
